Elizabeth Tucker: A PROVEN RECORD OF FAIRNESSS

A PROVEN RECORD OF FAIRNESS AND JUSTICE FOR RIVERSIDE COUNTY

Democrat Elizabeth Tucker for Superior Court Judge

Riverside, CA – The Riverside County Democratic Party is proud to endorse Elizabeth Tucker for Riverside County Superior Court Judge. Tucker brings a wealth of legal experience and an unwavering commitment to serving the community with fairness and integrity.

Tucker has earned endorsements from over 60 judges and commissioners, including the presiding and assistant presiding judges of Riverside County. She is supported by local law enforcement, community leaders, and legal organizations—a testament to her reputation for judicial competence and sound judgment.

Currently serving as a Riverside County Superior Court Commissioner, Tucker presides over a broad range of cases, including criminal, civil, juvenile justice, dependency, traffic, and probate matters. Her extensive experience on the bench makes her exceptionally well-qualified to serve as a Superior Court Judge.

Before becoming a Commissioner, Tucker spent 23 years as a Riverside County Deputy District Attorney. As a trial attorney, she successfully prosecuted serious and violent felonies, including cases of child abuse and domestic violence, highlighting her strong commitment to justice and public safety.

Tucker’s dedication extends beyond the courtroom. She has been an active member of the Indio Rotary Club for 12 years and has volunteered with the Riverside County Mock Trial competition since 1996, mentoring high school students who have gone on to become practicing attorneys. Tucker has also led a Girl Scout troop and volunteered with numerous local non-profits, demonstrating her deep connection to the community.

A long-time resident of Riverside County and a devoted mother, Tucker understands the importance of creating a safe, just community for future generations. Her blend of personal and professional experience makes her a compassionate and effective leader for the Superior Court.

The Riverside County Democratic Party is confident that Elizabeth Tucker is the right choice for Riverside County Superior Court Judge, and we urge voters to support her in November.

Greg Wallis Puts Corporate Interests Over Community Safety

The Riverside County Democratic Party endorses Democrat Christy Holstege for Assembly District 47.

Holstege’s record of public service is marked by her unwavering commitment to the people of this district. As a City Council member and former Mayor of Palm Springs, Holstege has been a steadfast advocate for affordable housing, addressing the opioid epidemic, and the protection of reproductive rights. Her approach is rooted in the values of transparency, equity, and community-driven leadership. Holstege has always been upfront with her constituents, consistently working to bridge divides and find solutions that benefit all residents, not just the wealthy and well-connected.

In stark contrast, Republican Greg Wallis has shown time and again that his priorities lie not with the hardworking people of our district, but with the powerful interests that fund his campaign. His record betrays the needs of our community while prioritizing corporate profits and ideological crusades. He received a rating of F from the Sierra Club and Environmental Voters, but a top rating from the NRA. And he has endorsed the radical conservative Sheriff Chad Bianco for Governor of California.

Christy Holstege understands the struggles of everyday Californians and is committed to making our community a better place for all, not just a select few.

The stakes are clear: we can either continue down a path where corporate interests dictate our laws, or we can choose a representative who will put the people first. That representative is Christy Holstege.

Christy Holstege Stands Strong Against False Accusations in 47th Assembly District Race

Christy Holstege, a committed advocate for Palm Springs, is now the target of false accusations about her residency.  The charges come as Holstege is rising in the polls—suggesting that the DA’s claims and her opponent’s attacks are politically-motivated.

To be clear: Holstege has always lived in her district. She receives her mail at her house in District 4, she celebrates holidays there, she is raising her son there, and she is registered to vote there.

Holstege’s dedication to her community is undeniable.  She has championed environmental sustainability, reproductive rights, and economic growth—issues that matter deeply to the people she represents. Meanwhile, her Republican opponent Greg Wallis has aligned with far-right figures like Sheriff Chad Bianco.

The attacks on Holstege are clear distractions from Wallis’s poor standing in the district he currently represents. As voters, we must see through the smokescreen. Holstege’s record is clear: she fights for her district with integrity and commitment. It’s time to reject the false narratives and stand behind a leader who genuinely represents us..

Supreme Court Decision on Presidential Immunity

riversidecostg · July 16, 2024 ·

Supreme Court Decision on Presidential Immunity

In an unprecedented move, the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on presidential immunity has significantly escalated the stakes of the 2024 presidential election

Dateline: July 1, 2024

Riverside, CA – Not since Nixon’s infamous claim that “when the president does it, that means it is not illegal” has there been such an affront to the fundamental principle that birthed America: the chief executive is accountable to the people, not just to himself.

At the time, Nixon’s claim was given its proper response – mostly total derision. Who could possibly say with a straight face that the president could act with impunity?

Apparently, the United States Supreme Court.

The decision attempts to distinguish between “official” and “unofficial” acts. In her powerful dissent, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wrote that “The official-versus-unofficial act distinction seems both arbitrary and irrational, for it suggests that only the unofficial criminal acts of a President are worthy of prosecution. Quite to the contrary, it is when the President commits crimes using his unparalleled official powers that the risks of abuse and autocracy will be most dire.” Basically, she points out that these justices have been constructed by the court’s majority out of whole cloth. So much for not having activist justices on the bench.

In a twist of irony, all of this is happening just before July 4 – the day on which America celebrates its freedom from imperial rule. We thumbed our noses at one despotic king, only to now face the very real possibility of putting another one in office.

“We have only one job”, says Joy Silver, Riverside County Party Chair, “and that is to win”. Now more than ever, Democrats and others who believe in democracy must unify to get our Democratic candidates elected up and down the ballot, and that means voting for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Only with a full takeover of the House and the Senate then making sure our Democratic President the power to nominate the next supreme court justices, can we ever hope to avoid America’s descent into fascism under a Dictator. We must vote – while we still can.
